Celebrating Dental Assistant Recognition Week
From 1–7 March, we proudly celebrate Dental Assistant Recognition Week.
This is a time dedicated to recognising the incredible contribution dental assistants make to practices every single day.
We all know how vital it is to have great dental assistants in your practice. You’ll often hear that they are the backbone of every smoothly run surgery — and for good reason. Their skill, organisation, and dedication are what keep the entire team functioning at its best.
A Team Effort Across the Practice
When we talk about dental assistants, we’re also recognising the wider support team that keeps everything running seamlessly. This includes Treatment Coordinators (TCOs), front-of-house teams, and clinical support staff who work together to create an exceptional patient experience.
- Treatment Coordinators (TCOs) help guide patients through treatment plans, answer questions, and support them in making informed decisions.
- Front-of-house teams are the welcoming faces patients see first — managing appointments, handling enquiries, and ensuring a smooth patient journey from start to finish.
- Clinical dental assistants provide chairside support, maintain infection control standards, prepare instruments, and anticipate the clinician’s needs during procedures.
Each role is different, but all share the same goal: delivering outstanding patient care.
The Backbone of Patient Experience
Dental assistants do far more than support procedures. They offer reassurance to anxious patients, keep appointments running on time, maintain compliance standards, and ensure the practice environment remains calm and professional — even on the busiest days.
Their attention to detail, teamwork, and ability to adapt quickly are what allow clinicians to focus fully on delivering high-quality treatment.
A Week to Say Thank You
Dental Assistant Recognition Week is the perfect opportunity to pause and acknowledge the dedication, compassion, and expertise of these invaluable team members. A simple thank you, team celebration, or gesture of appreciation can go a long way in recognising the impact they make every day.
To all dental assistants, TCOs, and front-of-house teams — thank you for being the foundation of exceptional dental care. This week, we celebrate you and the difference you make in every patient’s journey.
