Important Information from AeronaDental
Mark Garner, Updated 21/08/2024
Our 7 issues with sharing passwords and logins across your practice!
- Security: Passwords protect your personal information, financial data, and sensitive communications. Sharing them increases the risk of unauthorized access, potentially leading to identity theft, financial loss, or unauthorized activities in your name.
- Privacy: Your accounts often contain private data, such as emails, photos, or messages. Sharing your login details could lead to unintended privacy breaches if someone else accesses your accounts.
- Account Integrity: Sharing passwords can compromise the integrity of your accounts. Unauthorized users could change settings, delete important information, or impersonate you, leading to confusion and potential damage to your reputation.
- Compliance: Many organizations and online services have policies against sharing login credentials. Violating these policies can result in penalties, account suspension, or loss of access. This is not the case with AeronaDental, but worth your own consideration.
- Phishing and Scams: Sharing passwords, even with trusted individuals, increases the risk of them being intercepted or mishandled, especially if done over insecure channels. This can expose your accounts to phishing attacks or scams.
- Password Reuse Risk: If you reuse passwords across different accounts, sharing one password could compromise multiple accounts. If the person you share it with is careless or their account is breached, your other accounts could be at risk too.
- Auditability: Being able to trace who was using a system at a specific time may be an important factor in identifying issues, problems & risks. Sharing passwords and logins makes this virtually impossible to track.

Practice Level Security
Aerona Software provides the following features to allow you to enhance security at a practice level:
- Users can change their own passwords.
- No users can see other user’s passwords.
- There are different levels of access for the different roles within a practice.
- Users can be restricted on the times they can log-in to the system.
In short, at AeronaDental we strongly believe, keeping passwords private helps maintain your security, privacy, and control over your online presence & keeps your practice safe!
Ultimately the responsibility for the integrity & security of login and password detail remains with your practice and we do not have access to this information.
Kindest regards
